1. Light Dress and right Dress; Pure cotton clothes are more absorbent than clothes made of synthetic fibres such as nylon, polyester or rayon. As a result, when your baby sweats, cotton clothes absorb the moisture and allow it to dry, whereas clothes made of synthetic fibres don’t do. Avoid Dark colours, especially black.
2.Avoid Dehydration. Staying hydrated during summer is absolutely vital. Babies can get dehydrated much faster than bigger children and adults. So always watch out for at least six to eight urines in 24 hours. If you are bay exclusively breastfeeding, you don’t need to give him extra water in hot weather. We can offer > 6months babies more liquids (Ex: fresh juices and homemade drinks)
3. Look for skin allergies and sunburns. Stay indoors during the peak heat hours (10am-4pm). Let your baby’s skin breathe and let them go diaper-free for a comfortable duration every day. Residual massage oil can form a layer which traps sweat onto your baby’s skin, leading to a heat rash. To prevent this, ensure that you wash off all oil from your baby’s massage well. You can also opt for a thin oil which washes off more easily than thick oils. Don’t leave your baby alone in a parked car even for a moment. Talcum powder Is not considered safe to use anyhow and everywhere.
4. Opt for light home-made food/ drinks and Avoid outside food and drinks
5. Air-conditioning can be tricky, especially for babies and young children. Keep the temperature at a comfortable 24-26 degrees. Best is to keep babies in a well-ventilated and cool room rather than air-conditioned room as much as possible.
